Perbati: Asian Boxing Trust Validates Indonesian Boxing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Boxing Association (Perbati), Ray Zulham Farras Nugraha, stated that being entrusted to host the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships serves as a major validation for Perbati and the Indonesian boxing ecosystem.
“The trust from Asian Boxing is a significant validation for Perbati and our sporting ecosystem. We are committed not only to organising a technically competitive tournament but also to presenting the highest standards of transparency and sportsmanship under the auspices of World Boxing and Asian Boxing,” Ray said in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Indonesia will host the championship in Jakarta from 3–16 July 2026. The tournament is scheduled to bring together hundreds of the best young boxers from various Asian countries in the U19 and U23 age groups.
For Perbati, the appointment of Indonesia as host is not merely about organising an international event, but also serves as an opportunity to demonstrate a new direction for national boxing development and governance.
The championship will utilise the latest global standards from World Boxing, including technical aspects of the matches, judging systems, and competition management. The implementation of these standards is expected to deliver more transparent, fair, and competitive matches.
The presence of boxers from across the continent makes the 202ng Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships an important arena for Indonesia to measure the quality of youth athlete development while expanding competitive experience at the continental level.
Asian Boxing is the first continental confederation under the auspices of World Boxing recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The organisation is committed to building a clean, transparent boxing ecosystem oriented towards the Olympic pathway.
Perbati noted that hosting this championship aligns with efforts to modernise national boxing through improved governance, the application of sports science, and the strengthening of competition systems oriented towards long-term achievement.
The execution of the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Boxing Championships also receives support from various parties, including the government, the private sector, and electrical support from PLN to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
Perbati stated that the accreditation process for domestic and international journalists has been conducted through the official information centres of Perbati and Asian Boxing. Meanwhile, match schedules and ticket information will be announced periodically leading up to the championship.
