Perbasi-IBL to hold charity auction to renovate basketball court in Aceh
The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (DPP Perbasi), together with the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) and the National Team Secretariat, is organising a charity auction to raise funds for renovating a basketball court in Aceh Tamiang affected by a natural disaster. The humanitarian initiative aims to restore an damaged sports facility so that it can once again be used as a venue for nurturing young athletes in the Serambi Mekkah region. Jeremy Imanuel Santoso, head of the Perbasi Peduli Task Force, explained that the auction is conducted specifically to assist Perbasi Aceh, which is currently facing hardship. “We hope that through this activity, the broader basketball family in Indonesia can come together to help renovate the Aceh Tamiang court so it can again be used for sport and for developing young players,” he said. The charity auction is an integral part of the ‘Perbasi Peduli’ programme, demonstrating the national basketball community’s solidarity with those in need. All funds raised will be allocated entirely to repairing the structure of the court to bring it back up to standard for the local community and young athletes in Aceh Tamiang. The organising committee has prepared a range of high-value basketball memorabilia to be offered to the public in the auction session. Items up for auction will include official jerseys from IBL clubs, basketballs, and even shoes once used by IBL players. Perbasi and IBL are targeting basketball fans and collectors to actively participate in this social endeavour as a tangible show of support. Public participation is considered crucial in speeding up the restoration of sports infrastructure in the disaster-affected area. Junas Miradiarsyah, Chief Executive of IBL, expressed his support for this humanitarian step, noting that basketball embodies a strong sense of togetherness to help others. “We warmly welcome this initiative, because basketball is not just about the game; it is also a means to unite for humanitarian purposes. It is hoped that this charity auction will have a real impact for our brothers and sisters in Aceh,” Junas added. The charity auction, which mobilises the Indonesian basketball ecosystem, is scheduled to officially commence on 5 March 2026. The organisers are optimistic that broad support from the basketball community and the general public will accelerate the renovation of the Aceh Tamiang court so that sporting activity and talent development for young people can resume swiftly.
