Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia Profesional (Peradi Profesional) was officially declared in Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The lawyers’ organisation stressed that its presence is not a rival to existing bodies but a response to the diverse challenges facing Indonesia’s legal world.

Harris Arthur Hedar, the chairman of Peradi Profesional, said the organisation he leads is built on quality, ethics, and character as the foundations of the advocates’ profession. He emphasised that Peradi Profesional exists to preserve the dignity of the legal profession as a vocation of integrity.

“Peradi Profesional or Peradiprof is a professional body based on quality, ethics, and character. Peradiprof is not a competitor but a response to the collective restlessness of us all,” Harris said in a press release on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

Harris explained that the advocates’ profession currently faces a range of challenges, from fragmentation among organisations to diminishing public trust. He argued that these conditions spur a tendency for the profession to be used for short-term interests that could erode its dignity.

Harris noted that changes to the legal system are also driven by the dynamics of 21st-century digital transformation. The development of digital platforms and technology-based financing systems has given rise to new legal relationships not yet fully accommodated within conventional legal frameworks.

“The enactment of the new Criminal Code and the new Code of Criminal Procedure also demands the presence of advocates who are not only technically proficient but also ethically mature and proud to uphold strong social and constitutional responsibilities,” said the chair of the Alumni Association of Doctorate in Law (IADIH) at Jayabaya University.

Peradi Profesional was founded by three advocates who are also academics with professorships in law: Harris Arthur Hedar, Fauzie Yusuf Hasibuan, and Abdul Latif. Legally, the organisation has obtained endorsement from the Minister of Law and Human Rights through AHU-0000086.AH.01.07 of 2026.

“The presence of Peradiprof is a collective endeavour to restore the lawyers’ profession to its essence as guardians of justice and custodians of legal rationality. Peradiprof aims to be an integral part of a juridical civilisation towards a dignified Indonesia, ensuring that every advocate within it fully understands their role as public servants and enforcers of the law in an era of digital transformation,” Harris stated.

In addition to the declaration, Peradi Profesional also provided donations to 1,250 orphans and the underprivileged. The event also featured a sermon by Ustaz Das’ad Latif. In his talk, Latif urged lawyers to view their profession as a path to justice and a field of charitable work. He said a lawyer’s success should be built on blessed sustenance, dedication to scholarship, and a commitment to truth.

“Finally, lawyers must use intellect and faith to uphold true justice, placing the law rightly and proportionately, not merely defending clients who are in the wrong,” he said.

The Peradi Profesional declaration was also attended by Member of Parliament Rieke Dyah Pitaloka and other leaders of the organisation.
