PT Pertamina EP Zone 4 is targeting an increase in oil production to 30,305 barrels per day (BOPD) by 2026. In addition to oil, the company is also aiming for gas production of 485.07 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) as part of efforts to strengthen national energy supply.

“PEP Zone 4 is driving production increases through sustainable operational practices to support national energy security. Safety remains a priority in every operational activity,” said General Manager of PEP Zone 4 Djudjuwanto in a written statement on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The target has been established through a more measured operational strategy, particularly by optimising production from existing fields. The company will strengthen its development drilling programme, integrate subsurface studies and production facilities, and utilise technology and data analysis to improve field economics.

To achieve the target, Djudjuwanto stated that PEP Zone 4 will continue selective infill, interfield, and step-out drilling programmes. These programmes are supported by updates to geological and reservoir models that leverage two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic data, including passive seismic technology.

The company is also preparing a rejuvenation programme for mature oil and gas fields, optimisation of production facilities, and implementation of technology to reduce the natural rate of production decline.

Djudjuwanto added that the 2026 production target was set following PEP Zone 4’s positive performance throughout 2025. In that year, the company recorded oil production of 27,643 BOPD and gas production of 530.9 MMSCFD.

The production increase is also reflected in the contribution of the development drilling programme. Oil production from this programme surged from 385 barrels per day in 2019 to 3,874 barrels per day in 2025. Meanwhile, gas production from the same programme increased from 0.34 MMSCFD to 12.21 MMSCFD, approximately 40-fold growth.

This surge is aligned with increased drilling realisation, rising from nine work plans in 2019 to 69 work plans in 2025.

“Throughout 2025, the company also realised various operational programmes, including drilling of 69 wells, 51 workover operations, and 1,049 well intervention and well service activities. All activities were undertaken with strict risk management,” he said.

PEP Zone 4 operates under Pertamina Hulu Rokan Regional Sumatra as part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding. The area manages seven oil and gas work areas: Prabumulih Field, Limau Field, Adera Field, Pendopo Field, Ramba Field, and the Ogan Komering and Raja Tempirai work areas.

The operational areas span two cities—Prabumulih and Palembang—and nine districts in South Sumatra, including Muara Enim, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI), Lahat, Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, Musi Banyuasin, Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Ogan Komering Ulu.
