People's School Project Phase II to be Completed in June, Accommodating 112,320 Students

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is pushing for the acceleration of the construction of People’s School Phase II so that all projects can be completed in June 2026. In this way, these educational facilities will be ready for use when the new academic year begins in July. “The construction of all People’s Schools Phase II must be ensured to be fully completed in June, before the new academic year starts in July,” said Dody, quoted from an official statement, on Monday (27/04/2026). This programme is targeted to have a capacity of up to 112,320 students in 3,744 learning groups (rombel). Dody also highlighted several construction sites in various regions to ensure that the acceleration of work proceeds according to target. He urged the resolution of various technical obstacles in the field, from construction access, material mobilisation, labour needs, to the readiness of supporting infrastructure. Dody emphasised the importance of maintaining construction quality amid the project acceleration. He requested that all aspects, both materials and building structures, meet the established standards. “Still prioritise quality in its construction, both in terms of materials and building structures, because this school building must be able to last to be utilised for at least 20 years,” he stated. The Ministry of Public Works is optimistic that the acceleration of the People’s School Phase II construction will expand access to quality education while supporting the equitable distribution of educational services in various areas.
