People's School Project Accelerated, OHS Remains a Priority
PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has emphasised that the acceleration of the Sekolah Rakyat (SR) construction project still prioritises quality and occupational health and safety. The company ensures that time targets do not sacrifice technical standards or field worker protection.
Company Secretary Dian Sovana stated that the project acceleration is supported by strengthened management, technical supervision, and disciplined implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). “Behind the ongoing progress, there is high dedication and hard work from hundreds of workers who are the spearhead of this project’s success,” said Dian on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Dian explained that at each project site, the number of workers reaches 400 to 600 people working in shifts day and night. To speed up construction in various regions, the company also deploys around 2,500 workers from Java Island to projects in Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
According to Dian, workforce dedication is the main factor in maintaining the construction rhythm. She emphasised that many workers have to leave their families for extended periods but still carry out their duties with high commitment to the national project.
On the operational side, the company builds a collaborative work culture without barriers between foremen, engineers, and project leaders. In certain conditions, the entire team goes directly to the field to maintain progress while ensuring occupational safety remains intact.
Dian said that every project activity begins with a safety briefing and disciplined use of personal protective equipment (PPE). “Commitment to occupational safety is the company’s top priority,” said Dian.
She added that various challenges such as extreme weather, complex terrain, and logistical limitations are addressed with strengthened coordination and operational discipline. This approach is implemented to ensure the project runs according to targets without neglecting safety aspects.
The acceleration of Sekolah Rakyat construction, Dian continued, is part of the company’s contribution to supporting equitable access to education. She affirmed that this project is not only oriented towards physical construction but also a long-term investment in the quality of human resources.
“The Sekolah Rakyat project is not just physical construction, but also a long-term investment in producing Indonesia’s superior generation,” said Dian.
