Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, has emphasised that there will be no general opening of registrations for new student admissions to the People’s School for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The new student admission process will be conducted through direct outreach to prospective students using the DTSEN Volume 2 database for 2026.

“In line with the President’s directive, there must be no appointments. No bribery. No corruption, collusion, or nepotism. But everything will be reached based on DTSEN,” said Gus Ipul at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, quoted on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

Gus Ipul stressed that the outreach for prospective learners must be transparent and accountable. Therefore, DTSEN will serve as the primary reference for determining eligible prospective students.

Furthermore, Gus Ipul explained that this field outreach mechanism will be carried out by companions from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Social Services Offices, to BPS officers.

Later, BPS officers will go into communities to verify family conditions, ensure parental consent for prospective students, and confirm that prospective students meet the criteria.

“Recruitment is for children from the most incapable families. Families whose children may not be in school, are not attending school, have dropped out, or are at risk of dropping out,” he clarified.

Moreover, Gus Ipul emphasised that all parties involved in the selection must adhere to the rules, procedures, and consistently implement the President’s directives. Therefore, Gus Ipul has asked the public to directly monitor the selection process and, if any violations occur, report them immediately through the official channels provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

This is intended to ensure that the People’s School programme is on target and filled with children from poor and extremely poor families, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision, to break the chain of poverty.

On this occasion, Gus Ipul also reported that the construction of permanent People’s School buildings in various regions of Indonesia is progressing according to target. The construction is targeted for completion in July before the new academic year’s MPLS begins.

Finally, Gus Ipul expressed thanks to all parties because the construction of permanent People’s Schools is the result of cross-sector collaboration involving ministries and agencies, to local governments.

“Yes (the construction) is going very well. So even though there are dynamics in the field, hopefully everything can be handled well,” Gus Ipul concluded.
