People's party at Pondok Indah
JAKARTA (JP): To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day, Metro Pondok Indah Department Store, in South Jakarta, is holding a people's party called Kibaran Tana Indonesia (Display of Indonesian Land) starting yesterday and ending Aug. 20.
The party, which will feature Indonesian dances, music, fashion shows and handicrafts, is co-sponsored by Sempati Air, Jakarta's Regent Hotel and Bali's Four Seasons Resort Hotel.
Christine Barki, president of Metro Pondok Indah Department Store, said that the party, to be held in Pondok Indah Mall's atrium, will feature traditional handicraft makers from many parts of Indonesia. Batik makers from Pekalongan, Central Java, silversmiths and leather puppet makers from Yogyakarta, lontar (palm) leaf handicraft makers from Timor and renowned ceramic artist F. Widayanto from Jakarta will be among the participants.
"Rambu Ata, the famous traditional ikat cloth weaver of Sumba will also participate in the party's exhibition," Barki said at a press conference. (als)
