People's Feast for Independence Day boosts South Jakarta MSME economy

The People’s Feast held at Sadar Field, Jalan Sadar Raya, RT 01/05, Ciganjur Urban Village, Jagakarsa District, to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia has helped stimulate the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) economy in South Jakarta.

“Today in South Jakarta a People’s Feast is being held so that the public can experience the atmosphere of gratitude,” said Head of the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Qodari, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Qodari said the 81st Independence Day commemoration was filled with various positive activities that provided space for the public to express gratitude while celebrating independence together.

He therefore appreciated the enthusiasm of the public who crowded the MSME culinary stalls. “A variety of food and drinks provided by local MSME operators for thousands of residents,” he said.

Qodari explained that the series of activities began in the morning with communal exercise. The event then continued with various traditional competitions, such as tandem clog racing, as well as free health check-up services organised by the DKI Jakarta Health Office.

“The most important thing is the sense of togetherness. We thank the Mayor of South Jakarta, the Health Office, the sub-district police chief, the TNI, and the RT and RW administrators for the excellent collaboration,” he said.

“Let us pray together that the people affected by the disaster there continue to receive the best. The government is certain to be present and provide the best,” he said.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo expressed appreciation and gratitude to the central government for its support in organising the People’s Feast in six sub-districts of South Jakarta.

“This activity not only serves as a means for the public to enliven the 81st Independence Day, but also as a platform to encourage community economic activity, particularly for MSME operators,” said Syafrin.

He expressed hope that through the activity, the productivity of MSME operators would continue to grow, thereby strengthening the community’s economic resilience in the future.

“The public feels very grateful and enthusiastic about participating in the festivities of the 81st Independence Day. We hope that what we have provided can be of benefit to the public. Moreover, here there are basic food packages, health services, and other things provided free of charge,” he said.
