People's Banquet held at nine locations in West Jakarta

A series of People’s Banquet activities commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia took place festively at nine locations in West Jakarta on Tuesday.

The simultaneous event was enthusiastically welcomed by residents who attended and enjoyed a variety of culinary offerings from micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) at each location.

The People’s Banquet was held at nine points spread across eight sub-districts in West Jakarta, namely Cengkareng, Grogol Petamburan, Taman Sari, Tambora, Kebon Jeruk, Kalideres, Palmerah, and Kembangan.

“With a total of nine implementation points, this activity serves as a momentum to strengthen community togetherness while providing space for local UMKM players to participate in the series of commemorations for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” said West Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief, AKBP Rezi Dharmawa, who served as Chair of the Joint Committee for the West Jakarta People’s Banquet, on Tuesday.

Rezi also expressed appreciation to all parties who had supported the implementation of the event.

“We express our appreciation and gratitude to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo Subianto, for the support and direction provided, so that this People’s Banquet activity could be carried out and its benefits felt by the community. We also appreciate all elements involved, including the TNI, Polri, regional government, UMKM players, and the community who together ensured this activity ran well,” he said.

“The direction and support of President Prabowo Subianto serve as motivation for us to ensure this activity is carried out properly. The most important thing is that the community can directly experience the atmosphere of togetherness and joy in the momentum of the Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Coordinator Chair Denma Willyando said that his team sought to ensure the entire series of activities at nine locations could run in a coordinated, orderly manner and provide a good experience for the community.

“For us, the People’s Banquet is not merely about organising an event, but about how an activity can create a space of togetherness for the community. We appreciate the direction from the joint committee and the support of President Prabowo Subianto, which serves as motivation for the entire team to provide the best possible implementation. We also express appreciation to all UMKM and the community who have been an important part of this activity,” said Denma.

In its implementation, the West Jakarta People’s Banquet also involved the National Police’s Medical and Health Division (Dokkes Polri) to ensure the safety and health aspects of the food distributed to the public.

“Food inspections were carried out as part of efforts to ensure that the UMKM culinary offerings provided to the community are safe for consumption and take into account health aspects and nutritional content of the food,” he said.

In addition, the involvement of local UMKM was also an important part of the activity. “This activity opens space for local business players to introduce their products while interacting directly with the community,” said Denma.
