People of drought-stricken Bekasi facing severe water shortage

Prolonged drought has caused a water crisis in many areas in West Java and Greater Jakarta. Bekasi, a populous industrial and agricultural area east of Jakarta, is one area that has been hard hit by the crisis. In Cibarusah subdistrict, villagers struggle to get water for their household needs. Many have to walk some distance, carrying buckets of water on a pole across their shoulders. The Jakarta Post's photographer IGGP Bayu Ismoyo captured some of the images of this struggle for water.
