Washington (ANTARA) - Bahrain has agreed to participate in a US-led multinational task force dealing with attack drones, the US Department of Defense stated on Wednesday.

The commitment was conveyed during the 21st meeting of the US-Bahrain Military Advisory Commission, co-chaired by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East and Central Asia, Michael P. DiMino, and Bahrain’s Minister of Defence Affairs, Lieutenant General Abdullah Al-Noaimi.

“In Manama… the delegation assessed regional security challenges and discussed opportunities for Bahrain to continue integrating with US forces, as well as investing in anti-aircraft defence capabilities, including the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS),” the Pentagon said in its statement.

According to the officials, Bahrain is also committed to participating in Task Force Falcon Strike.

On 13 August, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the formation of Task Force Falcon Strike, which will combine air, surface, and underwater kamikaze drones, intended to strengthen security in the Middle East.

The task force staff will be led by US Special Operations Command personnel in Florida. CENTCOM has commenced official consultations and invited allied nations in the region to participate.

The objective is to establish an integrated deterrence system within the command’s area of responsibility, which encompasses 21 countries across the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.
