Pensions not paid
Pensions not paid
From Kompas
Every month retirees collect their pensions from PT Taspen
(Civil Servants Savings and Insurance Company) at bank BRI
Otista, East Jakarta. But on Oct. 5, 1994, the pensioners, who
average 70 years old, were surprised to be told that their
pensions could not be paid. Instead they were told to go to PT
Taspen at Cempaka Putih in Central Jakarta.
This was a real shock to those old pensioners, as one can
imagine. The reason for not paying the pension was that PT Taspen
did not deliver the money to the bank as they normally do.
BRI did not know what had happened and made no effort to find
out.
Obviously, what the two offices did to the retired civil
servants was not commendable. Some of them might not have had
money for the transportation to Cempaka Putih.
