Jakarta - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) has officially taken over the management of the pension loan portfolio belonging to PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (BTPN). For affected customers, BTN assures that the transfer will not change the rights or benefits they have been receiving.

The portfolio transfer, which includes Pension Loans and Pension Benefits, is effective from 29 June 2026. BTN emphasised that the transition process has been designed to run smoothly without disrupting services to pensioners.

BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that the company’s main priority is maintaining customer comfort during the transfer process.

“Our main priority is ensuring customer comfort is maintained. We guarantee that all customer rights, including the credit life insurance benefits attached to the loan, remain the same and do not change. We are also ready to assist all customers during the transition process so they remain comfortable and receive the best service from BTN,” Nixon said in an official statement on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

BTN will also send a welcome letter to all affected customers. The letter contains a complete guide regarding changes to credit facility management after the acquisition process is completed.

Although credit management has moved to BTN, the payment of pension benefits has not yet been transferred. For the time being, pension benefit payments will still be made by SMBC Indonesia until further notice.

Customers are also asked to continue carrying out periodic authentication processes in accordance with regulations so that pension benefit payments are not disrupted during the transition period.

If they require further information, customers can contact the SMBCI Care Contact Centre at 1500-365 or visit the nearest SMBC Indonesia branch office during the transfer process.

Nixon explained that this pension loan portfolio acquisition is part of BTN’s strategy to expand its service ecosystem through the Beyond Mortgage transformation. He said this step does not mean BTN is abandoning the housing finance business, but rather complementing its services so it can assist customers from the time they own a home until they enter retirement.

Meanwhile, SMBC Indonesia President Director Henoch Munandar said this portfolio transfer allows SMBC Indonesia to focus its resources on developing businesses in the emerging affluent, affluent, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and corporate segments. He noted that BTN has adequate capabilities and network to serve pension customers, so the transition process is expected to run optimally for both parties.
