Pengzhou City Explores Cooperation with Mataram in Tourism and Agriculture

A delegation from Pengzhou City, China, has expressed interest in exploring cooperation with Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, particularly in the fields of tourism and agriculture.

“This is our first day visiting Mataram, and we haven’t explored much yet. But from the few hours we’ve been here, tourism and agriculture appear to be promising starting points for collaboration,” said Pengzhou Deputy Mayor Mr Lu Min in Mataram on Tuesday.

The statement was made following the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Mataram City Government in the fields of economy and trade at the Mataram Mayor’s official residence.

Accompanied by several delegates from Pengzhou, Mr Lu Min noted that agricultural cooperation could encompass fruits, vegetables, and even herbal plants, as well as the exchange of agricultural technology expertise.

Beyond these two sectors, Lu Min added that education and student exchanges also present significant opportunities for collaboration. Pengzhou City has already established a sister city relationship with a city in Thailand since 2020.

To date, the student exchange programme has been progressing very well, as such cooperation can be initiated from an early stage, starting at the primary education level.

“Moving forward, we will further explore potential cooperation opportunities that can be developed with Mataram City,” he said.
