Pendopo and KAI unite modern mobility with ancestral heritage culture
Jakarta – Pendopo, in partnership with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), has unveiled a creative space that unites modern mobility services with Indonesia’s ancestral cultural heritage as a national identity marker, under the theme “Heritage on the Move.”
Pendopo Head Putu Laura stated that this theme was adopted to ensure Indonesian cultural heritage becomes increasingly embedded in daily public life through curated local products relevant to contemporary lifestyles.
“Through collaboration with KAI, we want to bring Indonesian culture closer to dynamic public spaces, including Gambir Station. Heritage on the Move is one of our efforts to engage more closely with customers whilst bringing cultural heritage to life through the everyday experience of modern society, because we recognise that tradition is constantly moving and evolving with its people,” Laura said at a press conference at Jakarta’s Gambir Station on Wednesday.
Pendopo has also established a pop-up store at Gambir Station featuring a carefully curated selection of local products relevant for travellers’ needs.
Through this pop-up store, visitors have the opportunity to discover various works from micro, small and medium enterprises (UMSEs) from across the archipelago. The Pendopo pop-up store will be located at Gambir Station until 31 May 2026.
Meanwhile, KAI (Persero) Executive Vice President for Marketing and Business Development Fredi Firmansyah stated that the collaboration reflects PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)’s commitment to delivering more memorable travel experiences for passengers.
“Perhaps with many such events, passengers who previously simply waited for trains might now look, experience and, with the pop-up exhibitions, purchase and enjoy products from local producers and local culture,” said Fredi.
Fredi added that the collaboration could boost UMSEs’ development, promote Indonesian culture to a wider audience and strengthen a more creative economic ecosystem.
