Penatarsewu Village Government Intensifies Stunting Forum to Reduce Chronic Malnutrition

The Penatarsewu Village Government (Pemdes) in Kediri continues to strengthen its commitment to improving public health quality, particularly in reducing chronic malnutrition among children. This strategic step is being realised through the reinforcement of the Rembug Stunting programme, which involves various community elements and health workers.

The Rembug Stunting programme serves as an important consultative forum to identify obstacles, map data on children under five, and formulate targeted intervention plans at the village level. This effort is being carried out intensively to ensure that every child in Penatarsewu Village receives optimal nutritional intake and health services.

The Head of Penatarsewu Village emphasised that stunting cannot be addressed partially. Through Rembug Stunting, the village government integrates the roles of Posyandu cadres, village midwives, and community leaders to conduct strict monitoring of child growth and development as well as the health of pregnant women.

Several key points that are the focus of this programme include: Chronic malnutrition or stunting poses a serious threat to the future of the younger generation because it affects children’s cognitive and physical development. With the intensification of the Rembug Stunting programme, it is hoped that early detection of new cases can be carried out so that intervention can be implemented immediately before the condition worsens.

The Penatarsewu Village Government hopes that through the consistency of this programme, the stunting rate in its area can be reduced to achieve the target of zero stunting.
