Penalties for public officials
Penalties for public officials
From Republika
The case of a vice presidential limousine using the dedicated busway lane is one example of a trend among bureaucrats to violate their own rules. According to the city police, the procedure for escorting public officials is covered by a government regulation while busway operation is under regional control.
If it is the hierarchy of regulations that matters, the question arises whether the vice presidential convoy in the busway route can be subject to Law No.14/1992 on highway traffic.
Another case involved a House member who violated the rule on three-in-one traffic zones and defied police authorities. Now let us see if such regulations apply to all citizens or only to those not in a strong bargaining position.
Do ordinary people who observe traffic rules on public roads have to submit to a small group of individuals with a lot of money and power? We can only hope that public officials will set a good example for the recovery of our nation.
