Penajam Paser Utara Police Distribute Free Nutritious Meals to 3B Vulnerable Groups

As part of its commitment to public health, the Penajam Paser Utara Police Resort (PPU), East Kalimantan, distributed the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme on Tuesday 19 May 2026. The programme targeted 60 residents classified as the 3B vulnerable groups—toddlers, pregnant women, and nursing mothers—in Nipah-Nipah Ward, Penajam District.

The event, held at the Nipah-Nipah Ward Office, was implemented by the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) Kemala Bhayangkari of the Penajam Paser Utara Police. This initiative represents a tangible contribution to improving public health, particularly in meeting the nutritional needs of groups requiring special attention.

The Penajam Paser Utara Police Chief, AKBP Andreas Alek Danantara, reiterated that the role of the police today extends beyond maintaining security and enforcing the law. The police are committed to being protectors, caregivers and public servants in all aspects of life, including health.

“The MBG programme is one form of the police’s care for helping the community prepare a healthy and resilient next generation,” said AKBP Andreas Alek Danantara during the event.

Beneficiaries in this programme came from two local health service points. The Chief of Police noted that of the total 60 beneficiaries, 20 came from Posyandu Cepaka 4 and 40 from Posyandu Cepaka 5.

The programme is expected to serve as an effective preventive measure to curb growth disorders among children. “The MBG programme initiated by the SPPG Kemala Bhayangkari of the PPU Police, we hope, will help improve public health and act as a tangible step in supporting stunting prevention in Kabupaten PPU,” he added.

The head of Nipah-Nipah Ward, Syaryadi, expressed the utmost appreciation for the attention of the PPU Police. He noted that balanced nutrition is a fundamental foundation for creating a future generation that is intelligent and outstanding.

The Head of the Department for the Empowerment of Women, Children Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB) of Kabupaten PPU, Dr. Janse Grace Makisurat, also stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration. She described the PPU Police’s move as an implementation of a pentahelix approach involving multiple entities.

“Nutrition intervention cannot be undertaken in isolation. It requires cooperation among all parties so that public health programmes can run optimally and reach the targets,” Dr. Janse Grace concluded.
