Penajam Paser Utara Hands Over Land for National Integrated School Construction to Education Ministry
The Government of Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency, East Kalimantan, through Regent Mudyat Noor, has officially handed over land for the construction of a National Integrated School (SNT) to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). The handover, marked by the signing of the official minutes (BAST) in Tangerang, Banten, is a key stage before the signing of the Regional Grant Agreement (NPHD). This process is underway as the land certification for the school site is being finalised by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).
Regent Mudyat Noor stated that this marks an initial milestone for establishing a national-standard education centre in PPU, which has been designated as one of five locations for the SNT programme in Indonesia. He affirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting the central government’s strategic programme to improve education quality and overseeing the administrative process so that construction can begin on schedule. The presence of the SNT is expected to provide local children with greater opportunities to access high-quality education without having to leave the region.
Mudyat Noor expressed hope that the school will produce a generation of young people from PPU who are excellent, have strong character, are competitive, and are ready to support the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). He emphasised that the programme is not only about providing modern educational facilities but also represents a strategic investment in improving the quality of human resources for the future. The initiative aims to expand access to education, reduce regional disparities, and nurture a superior and competitive young generation from PPU.
Director General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, Gogot Suharwoto, stressed that the SNT is not merely an infrastructure project but a cross-sectoral and long-term commitment. He noted that local governments play a crucial role as drivers and strategic partners in fostering collaboration to address educational challenges in their regions. The SNT programme is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) established by President Prabowo Subianto to equalise access to quality education across Indonesia.
