Pemalang Regent Caught in KPK Sting, Central Java Golkar: This is an Introspection for Us

The Chairman of the Central Java Golkar Party, Mohammad Saleh, stated that he will consult on legal assistance for Pemalang Regent Anom Widyantoro. Anom, a Golkar cadre, was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Saleh admitted he has not yet received detailed information regarding the alleged corruption or misconduct committed by Anom. He revealed that the Central Java Golkar Regional Leadership Council is waiting for an official press statement from the KPK regarding the case involving Anom. “Regarding the issue of legal assistance, we will consult with the Golkar Central Board,” Saleh said when contacted on Wednesday (29/7/2026). Although he does not yet know the exact details of the case ensnaring Anom, Saleh said the Central Java Golkar Regional Leadership Council is still taking this as a lesson. “This serves as an introspection for us,” he stated. The KPK conducted the sting operation against Anom Widyantoro on Tuesday (28/7/2026) evening. In the case, the KPK also arrested 20 other individuals. The 21 people were apprehended in three separate locations: Jakarta, Pemalang, and Purworejo. Anom was among the five individuals detained by the KPK in Jakarta. According to the KPK, the sting operation is related to the implementation of projects in Pemalang Regency. There are also allegations of position trading practices.
