PEM Akamigas Graduates 207 Students, Strengthens Energy Sector Workforce

The Energy and Mineral Polytechnic (PEM) Akamigas has graduated 207 students from five study programmes during its 55th Bachelor of Applied Science graduation ceremony in Cepu. The graduates came from the polytechnic’s own admission scheme, a Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources scholarship programme, and partnerships with local governments and industry players, with 85 students achieving cum laude honours. Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ahmad Erani Yustika, stated that the absorption rate of PEM Akamigas graduates into the workforce has shown an increasing trend over the past four years. Based on a tracer study, the employment rate rose from 61% for the 2022 cohort to 90% for the 2025 cohort, while 40% of the 2026 cohort had already been recruited by companies before graduation, up from 27.1% the previous year. Erani stressed that strengthening vocational human resources is crucial to supporting strategic energy programmes and maintaining national energy security. He noted that the implementation of national strategic projects, such as the B50 biodiesel mandate, the preparation of the E20 bioethanol programme, and the acceleration of the Masela Block project, requires competent and adaptive vocational talent. The ministry’s policies are directed at optimising domestic energy resource utilisation, increasing added value through downstream processing, strengthening the national energy mix, expanding equitable energy access, and ensuring environmental sustainability. PEM Akamigas Director Erdila Indriani attributed the growing industry confidence in graduates to the strengthening of a STEM-based vocational curriculum combined with a mandatory six-month industrial internship programme. She said the success proves that practice-based learning methods, an adaptive curriculum matching real industry needs, and close synergy with regulators and local governments produce job-ready human resources. By the end of 2025, all of the polytechnic’s applied bachelor programmes had achieved ‘Unggul’ (Excellent) accreditation, with students actively achieving at national and international levels. For the 2026/2027 academic year, PEM Akamigas will open admissions for international students through The Indonesian AID Scholarship (TIAS) scheme and launch three new study programmes: a Diploma III in New and Renewable Energy, a Diploma III in Oil and Gas Processing, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Oil and Gas Occupational Health and Safety (K3).
