Pelni's service

Pelni's service

From Bisnis Indonesia

On Dec. 23, 1995 I went to Medan, North Sumatra, by the ship Kumbana. The ship left Tanjung Priok for Belawan. On the boat I, together with my sister, tried to find our allocated place. But to our dismay, we found other passengers occupying our space and they had the same ticket numbers as ours. I learned that many other passengers were faced with the same problem.

At that moment there were no crew members around. So some of the passengers exchanged angry words in defending their respective rights, because none of them were willing to give up their place. Obviously the crew disappeared from the scene because they did not want to be involved in the quarrels.

Pelni (the state shipping company) should improve their services by not selling the same spaces to different people.
