Pelni transports 825 cattle from Kupang to Jakarta ahead of Eid al-Adha
PT Pelni will transport 825 cattle from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, to Jakarta to meet the community’s sacrificial animal needs ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH/2026 CE.
“We are ensuring the transport of cattle from Kupang to Tanjung Priok proceeds smoothly. We are committed to maintaining service quality and livestock welfare during transit to ensure they arrive in prime condition,” said Pelni’s Director of Freight and Sea Toll Services Kokok Susanto in a statement on Monday.
The state-owned shipping and maritime transport company confirmed that cattle supplies from eastern Indonesia to Jakarta are flowing smoothly ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Kokok stated that during the Eid al-Adha preparation period in 2026, Pelni’s vessel KM Camara Nusantara 1 will transport a total of 825 cattle across two voyages: Voyage 2 on 27 April 2026 and Voyage 3 on 14 May 2026.
“The livestock originated from Kupang in East Nusa Tenggara, the main supplier, and was transported to Tanjung Priok,” he added.
He stated that Pelni continues to support the smooth distribution of livestock ahead of Eid al-Adha. Livestock transport is a company priority to support national logistics connectivity.
He noted that livestock transport is crucial for food security and economic balance between eastern and western Indonesia.
“Pelni will continue to optimise the operations of KM Camara Nusantara 1 to better serve public needs,” Kokok added.
KM Camara Nusantara 1 underwent a full month of docking and maintenance in March 2026. Before entering the maintenance period, the vessel had successfully transported 528 cattle.
In 2025, Pelni’s livestock vessels recorded positive performance, transporting a total of 7,135 cattle. This figure demonstrates Pelni’s commitment and consistency in supporting inter-regional livestock distribution, particularly connecting production hubs in eastern Indonesia with consumption areas in Java and surrounding regions.
Pelni is committed to continuously improving livestock transport services that are safe, comfortable, and efficient to support public needs, especially ahead of major religious events like Eid al-Adha.
