Pelni to start service in Gorontalo

GORONTALO: State shipping firm PT Pelni will soon start service to the province of Gorontalo following the inauguration of a port in the city.

Minister of Transportation Agum Gumelar asked the director general of naval transport and PT Pelni to open a new route for passenger ships KM Tilongkabila and KM Cermai.

Agum said on Wednesday evening that the port authorities had sufficient facilities to accommodate large ships.

Governor Fadel Muhammad said the renovation of the city's port used funds amounting to Rp 5.24 billion from the regional budget and Rp 3.46 billion from the state budget.

The port was renovated in April last year. Fadel added that the port's renovation was expected to help accelerate development in the province. -- Antara
