PELNI to Service MV Odyssey Cruise Ship, Strengthening Indonesia's Maritime Tourism

Jakarta — PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, or PT PELNI (Persero), through ship agency services, is supporting the operations of the cruise ship MV Odyssey as it sails in Indonesian waters. The support is seen as strengthening PELNI’s role in underpinning the national maritime tourism industry as well as international ship services at domestic ports.

The cruise ship, with a gross tonnage of 24,344 GT and a length of 194 metres, carries 274 passengers and first entered Indonesian waters via Komodo Island on 25 April 2026 after sailing from Dili, Timor-Leste.

During its itinerary, MV Odyssey calls at several major Indonesian ports, from Benoa Port in Denpasar, to Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, and Tanjung Mas Port in Semarang.

PELNI’s Corporate Secretary Ditto Pappilanda said the support for MV Odyssey demonstrates PELNI’s readiness to provide professional ship agency services for both national and international vessels, particularly cruise ships.

‘We are ready to provide comprehensive support, from handling documents and operational needs to hospitality services for passengers, so that international cruise activities while in Indonesia can run smoothly, safely and on time,’ Ditto said in an official statement on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

The move forms part of supporting ship operations in line with service standards and port environmental management.

Ditto added that PELNI will continue to strengthen its capabilities and service quality to become a reliable partner for international vessels at ports across Indonesia.

‘As a national shipping company, PELNI will continue to strengthen full port agency services as well as logistics and operational support for international vessels at various Indonesian ports,’ Ditto said.

PELNI also reaffirmed its commitment to continuously develop professional and efficient agency services to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a maritime nation that is increasingly competitive in the Southeast Asia region.
