Pelni to Adjust Cargo Tariffs Starting 1 July 2026
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, known as PT Pelni (Persero), is implementing a tariff adjustment for cargo transport services on passenger ships, which will apply to bookings made from 1 July 2026.
“This policy is part of the company’s efforts to maintain the sustainability of cargo transport services, while simultaneously improving the quality of service for all users,” said Pelni Corporate Secretary Ditto Pappilanda in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He clarified that the tariff adjustment does not apply to all types of services, but specifically covers several cargo categories, including dry container high cube, Class III vehicles, general cargo, and special general cargo.
“Meanwhile, bookings made before 1 July 2026 will continue to use the previously applicable rates,” he added.
He stated that the tariff adjustment is a necessary step to ensure that cargo transport services continue to operate optimally amidst rising operational costs and the need for service quality enhancements.
“For Pelni, the priority is not just transporting goods to their destination, but also ensuring that the services provided become increasingly better,” said Ditto.
The shipping company is committed to ensuring that the logistics services provided remain reliable, safe, and capable of meeting the needs of goods distribution across various regions in Indonesia.
In line with the tariff adjustment, Pelni is also continuing various service improvements, such as ensuring container availability at several ports, improving container depot management standards, and providing ease for customers in obtaining cargo insurance services.
Additionally, the company is introducing a new cargo service featuring dry container high cubes, which are containers with higher dimensions compared to regular 20-foot containers, offering a larger cargo capacity.
Pelni is also simplifying vehicle classifications by merging Class IIIA and IIIB vehicles into a single category, Class III, so that both types of vehicles are now subject to the same tariff.
For general cargo services, Pelni is applying tariff adjustments by considering the specific service areas of each region.
As for special general cargo, this is a delivery service for fruit and vegetable commodities placed on the car decks of KM Dobonsolo and KM Ciremai, ensuring that the quality and freshness of the cargo are better maintained by being stored in areas with more stable temperatures.
Ditto added that the public and business actors still have the opportunity to obtain special rates in accordance with company policy.
“We remain open to opportunities for service users to apply for discounted rates through coordination with the cargo branches according to the applicable provisions,” said Ditto.
He urged customers to make bookings through the MyCargoo! application or Pelni branch offices to ensure the cargo delivery process is easier, faster, and more transparent.
Ditto also reminded that cargo bookings via the MyCargoo! application open seven days before the ship’s departure.
The booking deadline (closing time) varies for each type of cargo: 24 hours before departure for containers, 2 hours before departure for general cargo and vehicles, and 30 minutes before departure for Redpack services.
For members of the public or service users requiring further information regarding the tariff adjustments and cargo transport services, he advised contacting the nearest Pelni branch office to obtain complete and accurate information.
Through this policy, Pelni hopes that passenger ship cargo transport services can continue to provide increasingly high-quality service, supporting the smooth flow of national logistics distribution, and meeting the needs of the community and business actors across various regions of Indonesia.
