Pelni Records 660,654 Passengers Utilising 30% Ship Ticket Discount

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) has recorded that 660,654 passengers have utilised the 30% ship ticket discount programme, a government stimulus measure designed to enhance public mobility and purchasing power during the 2026 school holiday period. Company Secretary Ditto Pappilanda stated on Wednesday that this figure represents approximately 96% of the projected 693,690 beneficiaries. Based on company data, total passenger realisation for the departure period had reached 690,905 people as of 21 July 2026. The state-owned shipping firm noted that the government’s economic stimulus programme, in the form of a 30% ticket discount, has had a positive impact on increasing public mobility. The programme is scheduled to run until 15 August 2026, or may end earlier if the quota is fully absorbed. The discount applies to tickets purchased from 6 June to 15 August 2026, for departures between 20 June and 15 August 2026. The five most popular destinations during the programme are Makassar in South Sulawesi, Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, Ambon in Maluku, Bau-Bau in Southeast Sulawesi, and Surabaya in East Java. Ditto noted that the high utilisation rate demonstrates that the stimulus in the maritime transport sector has provided tangible benefits to the public through more affordable transport services, while also boosting mobility during the school holiday period. He urged the public who still plan to travel using Pelni ships to book tickets immediately through official sales channels before the quota is fully absorbed. The company continues to ensure fleet readiness and service quality throughout the discount period so that all journeys are safe, comfortable, and on time. Pelni remains committed to delivering services that prioritise safety first, zero accidents, and service excellence. The company also reminded all prospective passengers to carry identification matching their ticket data and to arrive at the port early to ensure an orderly, smooth, and comfortable departure process. The stimulus programme provides a 30% discount on the base fare of economy class tickets for all Pelni passenger routes, excluding insurance and port fees, and is valid until 15 August 2026 or while the quota remains available. Tickets can be obtained through various official sales channels provided by the company, including the Pelni Mobile application, Pelni website, Contact Center 162, branch counters, and other channels to facilitate safe and easy access to ticket purchases. The company also provides various payment methods through official partners to offer convenience, security, and comfort for the public during the ticket purchasing process. Pelni is a state-owned enterprise operating in the shipping services sector, currently running 25 passenger ships serving 483 segments and calling at 75 ports. In addition to passenger transport, Pelni also operates 30 pioneer ship routes as a means of accessibility for population mobility in underdeveloped, remote, outermost, and border areas, with pioneer ships calling at 229 ports across a total of 516 segments and 2,515 routes. The company also operates 17 feeder vessels. For logistics services, Pelni currently operates eight sea toll routes and one special route for livestock transport.
