Jakarta - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero), or Pelni, has recorded 18,253 passengers departing from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta during the Eid transport period since early March, amid increasing inter-island societal mobility. “The total number of passengers boarding Pelni ships from Jakarta up to today is 18,253 people,” said Antonius Lumban Gaol, Head of Pelni’s Jakarta Branch, to ANTARA in Jakarta on Saturday. He explained that this figure is an accumulation since 6 March 2026, reflecting the upward trend in sea travel during the Eid homecoming and return season. Based on data from the 2026 Eid Transport Post (H+6), Pelni, through the KM Dobonsolo fleet, served the departure of 559 passengers from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta to Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya today. KM Dobonsolo recorded docking activities at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta on Friday (27/3) at 08:00 WIB, after travelling from Fakfak via the route of Ambon, Namlea, Baubau, Makassar, and Surabaya. Meanwhile, for the departure schedule, KM Dobonsolo set sail again from Jakarta on Saturday (28/3) at 02:00 WIB in the early hours. On this voyage, KM Dobonsolo serves a long route to Jayapura. The route to be visited includes Tanjung Priok, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Makassar, Baubau, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Serui, ending at the final destination port of Jayapura. Passenger movements coincide with ship arrival activities at Tanjung Priok. Previously, on Friday (27/3), 2,144 passengers arrived at Tanjung Priok Port using two Pelni ships, namely KM Dobonsolo and KM Bukit Raya. Gaol added that up to Thursday (26/3), the number of passengers departed from Tanjung Priok was recorded at 17,295 people, while arrivals totalled 18,830 people. With this trend, Pelni projects that passenger flows will remain dynamic until early April, in line with the end of the Eid holiday period and the return of societal activities in various regions.
