JAKARTA — PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero), or PELNI, has prepared 751,550 tickets for Lebaran transport in 2026. Chief Executive Tri Andayani said in Jakarta on Wednesday (4 March 2026) that ‘The availability of Lebaran tickets in 2026 is 751,550 tickets, with a capacity of 56,069 seats across all its ships.’ The peak season is set for 21–22 March 2026. PELNI projects the peak mudik flow on 18 March 2026 (three days before Eid) and the peak balik flow on 2 April 2026 (eleven days after Eid). PELNI is preparing 25 passenger vessels with 44,180 seats deployed across 74 ports. It is also deploying 30 feeder ships with 11,889 seats across 230 ports. In facing Lebaran, PELNI has prepared various strategic measures to meet the surge in passengers. The entire fleet is ensured to operate at full capacity during the peak period and has undergone docking as required. Tri Andayani said each ship has also undergone thorough checks (ramp checks) by the Ministry of Transport to ensure seaworthiness before operation. Additionally, the company is closely monitoring fuel availability. ‘Our regular fuel requirement is around 18,000 kilolitres per month. During the peak season it increases to 22,000 kilolitres due to additional routes, diversions, and aid ships,’ Tri Andayani explained. Fuel availability has been coordinated with the Ministry of Transport and related parties. The company also ensures adequate fresh water by coordinating with ports to avoid delays in refilling that could disrupt departure schedules. To anticipate the surge in passengers, the company is adding five onboard food supply points. Ship safety workshops have also been held as part of strengthening navigation safety. Operationally, the company is adjusting routes and schedules through a pre-routing strategy to cope with surges on several routes. Seventeen ships are optimised, with two auxiliary ships and increased sailing frequencies on certain routes.
