Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has officially introduced a 20% discount on container freight rates to support the smooth distribution of goods in the post-Lebaran period. This programme applies to reservations made from 27 March to 30 April 2026 and is not tied to the ship’s departure date.

The 20% discount applies specifically to fleet rates for dry container and reefer container cargo transported on five vessels: KM Dobonsolo, KM Ciremai, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Dorolonda, and KM Sinabung, in line with each vessel’s regular routes.

PELNI’s Corporate Secretary, Ditto Pappilanda, stated that the discount applies only to fleet rates, while handling or loading and unloading costs remain at normal rates at each port.

“This 20% container freight discount programme is our strategic step to maintain the stability of cargo transport performance, particularly during the low season after the Lebaran homecoming rush,” said Ditto.

Ditto also added that the programme does not apply to empty container shipments, which have their own rate scheme.

“The discount applies to regular shippers with no quota limit per sender as long as space capacity on KM Dobonsolo, KM Ciremai, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Dorolonda, and KM Sinabung remains available. Customers can make reservations directly via MyCargoo on the PELNI Mobile app or by contacting the nearest PELNI branch office,” Ditto added.

Ditto targets that this programme can increase the container load factor on passenger ships to at least 70% during the post-Lebaran period.

“We hope this initiative can drive an increase in cargo volume and provide convenience for customers in distributing goods to various regions, including 3TP areas,” Ditto concluded.

Through this programme, PELNI is committed to supporting the smooth operation of the national logistics supply chain in various parts of Indonesia, especially during the post-Lebaran period, while keeping cargo transport performance optimal.
