Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) Jakarta Branch recorded zero cases of ticket scalping during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah holiday period.

“If it’s in Jakarta, I can assure you there are none. Up to now, there have been no cases of ticket scalping,” said the Head of Pelni Jakarta Branch, Antonius Lumban Gaol, to ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.

Gaol stated that this achievement was due to the ease with which the public can purchase Pelni tickets. Pelni tickets can be booked online via the official Pelni website, www.pelni.co.id, the Pelni Mobile app, the Pelni contact centre, and modern retail stores that are official Pelni partners.

“We also prepared 21,000 seats, which I think is more than sufficient. The ticket purchasing facilities are also very straightforward,” said Gaol.

Therefore, he asked the public to avoid buying tickets from scalpers for future holiday periods.

In addition, as an evaluation of the implementation of the Pelni Eid transportation flow period, Gaol asked travellers to prepare basic medications.

“Because passengers will definitely be overflowing, right? So, they must maintain their health,” said Gaol.

It was previously reported that the Head of PT Pelni (Persero) Kupang Class II Branch, Teguh Setiadi, in Kupang on Wednesday (19/3), stated that he received complaints from several passengers who did not get ship tickets because they bought from scalpers.

In fact, continued Teguh, there were passengers willing to pay up to Rp4 million for Pelni ship tickets for four people, whereas the original price was only around Rp1 million.

That incident, he said, was quite disturbing to the public, especially Pelni ship users who wanted to travel for Eid homecoming.

Teguh reported that so far, hundreds of homecomers have been victims of scams by scalpers.

Homecomers are also urged not to be influenced by ticket sales offers on social media, as there have been several cases where homecomers ordered Pelni ship tickets via social media, and in the end, their money was lost due to fraud.
