Jakarta — PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Jakarta branch has prepared nine passenger vessels to serve 2026 Eid holiday travel services, or Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah, operating from their home base at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta to various Indonesian ports.

“We have one vessel with a capacity of 3,000 passengers, six vessels with a capacity of 2,000 passengers each, and two vessels with a capacity of 1,000 passengers each, ready to serve passengers during this year’s holiday travel period,” said Antonius Lumban Gaol, Head of PT Pelni’s Jakarta branch, in Jakarta on Thursday.

The nine vessels are KM Ciremai, KM Dobonsolo, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Labobar, KM Tidar, KM Kelud, KM Bukit Raya, KM Ngappulu and KM Kelimutu.

According to him, all vessels have undergone ramp checks or seaworthiness tests conducted by marine inspectors from the Port Authority and Port Operator Office (KSOP).

“This ramp check is a comprehensive inspection of the vessel’s condition, including document completeness, navigation equipment and communication equipment,” said Antonius.

The inspection also covers machinery and safety equipment, conducted twice yearly during peak seasons when demand is sharp, namely ahead of Eid, Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“The result is that all these vessels are seaworthy and operational,” he said.

The company has also carried out vessel repairs whilst the ships are in operation, typically minor repairs that are handled immediately.

Antonius stated that the nine vessels serve routes to various ports starting from western region ports such as Belawan and Batam, then the central route to Ambon, Banda, Bau-Bau, Larantuka, Kupang, and eastern region areas in Papua.

However, for holiday transport to western regions, vessels depart from Tanjung Priok port to several western areas and will only return to Tanjung Priok port after Eid or during the return journey transport period.

“We are ready to provide holiday travel services and deliver passengers safely to their destinations,” he said.

Previously, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Jakarta branch invited the public to take advantage of discounts offered by the government during the Eid holiday outbound and return journey periods of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah.

“There is a 30 per cent discount from the basic fare for departures from 11 March to 5 April 2026,” he said.

He stated that on Wednesday, the number of available seats for voyages to Eastern Indonesia remained available at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta.

“Voyages from Tanjung Priok to Ambon, Makassar and Papua are still available,” said Antonius.
