Pelni Enhances Passenger Services in Preparation for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Travel Period
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) continues to improve the quality of passenger services during the peak season of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Transportation. Service improvements are carried out on the entire Pelni fleet to ensure a safe and comfortable homecoming journey for the community.
Manager of Corporate Communications for Pelni, Nadya Nathasya, said that Pelni not only ensures the readiness of the fleet in terms of safety and operations, but also continues to innovate services to improve passenger comfort during the trip.
“Our latest innovation on passenger ships is to present the Nusantara Breakfast menu, namely yellow rice which presents the distinctive flavors of the Indonesian region. We designed this menu to promote Nusantara values and create a warm and memorable breakfast experience,” said Nadya when met on KM Dobonsolo from the Makassar Port while heading to the Baubau Port, Southeast Sulawesi, Wednesday (25/2).
In addition to improving the quality of the menu, Nadya continued, it also ensures passenger food safety standards through the implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification. Currently, ships that have been HACCP certified include KM Kelud, KM Dorolonda, KM Nggapulu, KM Lambelu, KM Sinabung, KM Bukit Siguntang, KM Dobonsolo, KM Awu, and KM Bukit Raya.
Furthermore, Nadya said that in 2026, HACCP certification will soon be implemented on KM Labobar, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Ciremai, KM Binaiya, and KM Tilongkabila. The implementation of this international standard is a form of Pelni’s commitment to maintaining the quality, hygiene, and safety of food for all passengers during the voyage. The entire Pelni fleet has also undergone intensive facility maintenance accompanied by stricter hygiene standardization in all public areas, cabins, toilets and other public facilities.
“The quality of mattresses on our fleet has also been improved to antibacterial, waterproof and fireproof materials to improve comfort and hygiene during the trip,” said Nadya.
In addition, the service transformation carried out by Pelni is not only focused on improving physical facilities, but also on strengthening digital aspects and passenger safety. This is realized through the expansion of the implementation of the smartlock feature which was previously implemented on KM Kelud as a pilot project. This year, the feature will be implemented gradually on KM Bukit Siguntang, KM Awu, and KM Dorolonda. This technology enables safer, more practical and modern cabin access through a digital system. Nadya also added that Pelni has launched a travel review feature on the Pelni Mobile application, so that passengers can immediately provide ratings and reviews after the trip is complete.
“The rating and review feature on Pelni Mobile is a very important tool for us to ensure that the evaluation and service improvement process runs in a measurable and sustainable manner. The assessment includes four main indicators, namely cleanliness, facilities, food, and service. We invite all passengers to actively provide honest feedback after the trip,” Nadya concluded.
Pelni is committed to continuing to provide safe, comfortable and affordable sea transportation services for all Indonesian people during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Transportation period. Through these various service improvements, Pelni ensures that the entire fleet is ready to support national connectivity and community mobility throughout the archipelago. (E-4)
