Pelni carries 1,178 passengers during 2026 Idul Adha holiday period

Palangka Raya (ANTARA) — Andry Yudha, Head of PT Pelni’s Pangkalan Bun Branch in West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, stated that approximately 1,178 passengers departed during the Idul Adha holiday period. ‘This figure represents departures from Panglima Utar Port between May 23 and 28,’ Yudha said in Pangkalan Bun on Saturday.

He added that preparations had been made to ensure smooth sea transportation during the holiday period, including operational readiness for passenger services, coordination with port stakeholders, and ensuring passenger terminal facilities were in optimal condition. ‘We hope all departure and arrival processes run smoothly, safely, and comfortably for the public,’ he said.

To maximise passenger services, Pelni Pangkalan Bun deployed three vessels: KM Awu, Kelimutu, and Lawit. Additionally, continuous monitoring of passenger numbers and staff readiness was conducted to anticipate increased mobility during the long holiday.

‘We at PELNI remain committed to maintaining safety standards and delivering the best service by prioritising safety first, zero accidents, and service excellence for all passengers using PELNI ships during the Idul Adha period,’ Yudha stated.

In additional information, Andry Yudha revealed that PT Pelni Persero recorded 39,797 tickets sold for the departure period from 27 May to 1 June 2026, ahead of the 1447 Idul Adha long holiday, as of 26 May 2026. Furthermore, from 1 January to 25 May 2026, PELNI served approximately 1.9 million passengers nationwide.

‘These figures demonstrate growing public confidence in PELNI’s sea transportation services, proving that PELNI ships remain the primary choice for inter-island travel,’ he said.
