Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva Empowers Youth to Achieve Freedom from Drugs
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - PT Pelindo Sinerki Lokaseva (PSL) is encouraging the younger generation to achieve freedom from drugs through educational programmes regarding the dangers of narcotics for students. The initiative aims to build healthy, high-integrity characters and safeguard the nation’s future from an early school age.
Dewi Fitriyani, Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretariat at PT Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva, stated that the company is committed to supporting the realisation of a healthy, characterised, and resilient Indonesian youth capable of resisting narcotics abuse.
“Freedom without drugs means providing space for the younger generation to grow healthily, with character, and with the ability to determine their own future,” Dewi said in a statement in Bandung, West Java, on Friday.
The company conducted the “Merdeka Tanpa Narkoba” (Freedom Without Drugs) educational sessions for students at SMAN 13 and SMAN 80 Jakarta. This activity is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero).
The activity was carried out collaboratively by PT Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva and Pelindo Regional 2, alongside the North Jakarta National Narcotics Board (BNN).
According to Dewi, the education aligns with the National Anti-Narcotics Action programme, ‘Anak Indonesia Bersih Narkoba’ (ANANDA Bersinar), promoted by the Indonesian National Narcotics Board (BNN) as an effort to strengthen the prevention of narcotics abuse from an early age.
Dewi noted that the momentum of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia serves as an opportunity to strengthen concern for the quality of the nation’s future generations. She remarked that independence is not merely defined as freedom, but also the ability of the youth to protect themselves from various threats that could hinder their future.
“Therefore, education and guidance from school age are essential so that students possess the understanding and self-resilience to face various influences in their surrounding environments,” said Dewi.
During the activity, students received direct education from the North Jakarta BNN regarding the dangers of narcotics abuse, its impact on health and social life, and the importance of choosing healthy social circles. The material was provided to equip students not only with knowledge of drug risks but also with the ability to recognise situations that could lead to narcotics abuse.
For PSL, strengthening youth education is part of the company’s contribution to supporting the development of high-quality human resources. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 regarding Good Health and Well-being, and supports the 4th ‘Asta Cita’ pillar, which focuses on strengthening the development of high-quality, productive, and characterised human resources.
Through synergy with Pelindo entities and the North Jakarta BNN, PSL is also helping to foster a healthy and conducive educational environment for the younger generation.
The Head of North Jakarta BNN, Kombes Pol Irwan Andi Purnamawan, appreciated the collaboration by Pelindo in strengthening narcotics abuse prevention education within the educational environment. He noted that building a drug-free younger generation requires the continuous involvement of various parties.
“Drug prevention requires synergy. It cannot be done by a single institution. Collaboration with the education sector, government, SOEs, and the community is vital to strengthen prevention efforts and build a healthy generation with a bright future,” said Irwan.
For the students, the education provided an opportunity to gain direct understanding of the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of protecting themselves from negative influences. Varel Agustyno D, a student at SMAN 80 Jakarta, admitted to gaining new insights into the impact of drug abuse on health, education, and the future.
“After participating in this activity, I now better understand that drugs can impact health and the future. In my opinion, as students, we must be more careful in choosing friends and social environments and be brave enough to refuse things that can be harmful,” he expressed.
Through the spirit of ‘Merdeka Tanpa Narkoba’, PSL, alongside other Pelindo entities and the North Jakarta BNN, continues to drive the strengthening of awareness among the younger generation from the school years. This effort is expected to be part of a collective step in creating a healthy, high-integrity, and characterised Indonesian generation capable of honouring independence through achievements and positive contributions to the nation.
