Pelindo Relocates FRU-FSRU to Realise Bali Maritime Tourism Hub
The relocation of the FRU and FSRU was supported by the synergy of all parties as well as the tugboat fleet KT Jayanegara 303, KT Bima 324 and KT Bima 315.
PT Pelindo Marine Service (Pelindo Marine), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim, has carried out the relocation of a Floating Regasification Unit (FRU) and a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) from the Bali Cruise Ship Terminal (BCST) Benoa area to Development Area 2 (AP2) to support the realisation of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH).
“The relocation of the FRU and FSRU was supported by the synergy of all parties as well as the tugboat fleet KT Jayanegara 303, KT Bima 324 and KT Bima 315,” said Commercial, Operations and Engineering Director of PT Pelindo Marine Service Elvin Syah Putra in a statement received in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday.
The relocation of the two floating energy facilities is a strategic step in supporting the development of the BMTH area while ensuring the reliability of energy supply for the people of Bali is maintained.
This is because the FRU is strategic infrastructure with a regasification capacity of 41 Million Metric Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) and supplies gas for PLN power plants on the Island of the Gods, said President Director of PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL) Jeffry Y. Priastono.
“FRU Lumbung Dewata is an important part of Bali’s energy supply chain. This relocation ensures the facility continues to operate optimally while supporting the development of the Benoa area as a modern maritime tourism centre,” he said.
According to Jeffry, the relocation of the FRU and FSRU demonstrates that the development of a modern tourism area can proceed in harmony with the energy needs that form the backbone of community and tourism industry activities on the Island of the Gods.
Sub Regional Head of Sub Regional Bali Nusra Regional 3 Pelindo Fariz Hariyoso added that the relocation of the FRU and FSRU is part of efforts to arrange the BMTH area as a world-class maritime tourism destination integrated with energy infrastructure needs.
He also confirmed that the relocation of the two floating facilities was carried out to support the development of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub without disrupting the reliability of electricity supply in Bali.
This effort was undertaken because the development of the tourism sector and the energy sector must proceed side by side so as to provide optimal benefits for the community and the regional economy.
