Pelindo Prepares Strategic Measures During 2026 Lebaran Transport Period
Jakarta – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, has ensured that all port services remain fully operational during the 2026 Lebaran transport period. This measure is undertaken to support smooth population mobility and logistical distribution, which typically increase significantly ahead of and following Eid al-Fitr.
Chief Executive Officer Achmad Muchtasyar stated that Pelindo has prepared various strategic measures to enhance service quality at ports during this period. Preparations undertaken include strengthening passenger terminal operations, improving coordination with various relevant parties, and optimising port facilities to handle surges in passengers and cargo.
“Pelindo is committed to ensuring all port services run optimally during the Lebaran transport period. Our port operations are on high alert for 24 hours to support smooth cargo flow and passenger mobility,” said Achmad.
Pelindo also expressed its support for government policy concerning restrictions on three-axle and above freight transport operations during the outbound and return Lebaran journey from 13-29 March 2026. This policy aims to manage population travel flow to ensure it is more orderly, safe, and controlled.
In line with this policy, Pelindo has prepared various operational measures, ranging from traffic and terminal capacity management to control container accumulation levels, ship berth scheduling arrangements, and optimisation of terminal operational services to ensure cargo handling activities proceed safely and efficiently.
Beyond cargo terminal operational readiness, Pelindo has also ensured service readiness at passenger terminals managed by the company by enhancing human resource preparedness, service systems, and security in the port area. Various passenger support facilities, such as waiting areas, information services, and arrangements for ship departure and arrival flows, have been strengthened. By 15 March 2026, services at all Pelindo passenger terminals were recorded as running smoothly with more than 500,000 passengers having been processed.
This figure is expected to continue increasing as the peak outbound travel period approaches, predicted to occur at H-3 to H-2 Lebaran, with projections of total passenger movement this year increasing approximately 5 per cent compared to the previous year.
“Through these various efforts, Pelindo hopes that the 2026 Lebaran transport operations can proceed smoothly, safely, and comfortably for people travelling via sea routes, whilst also ensuring that national logistical distribution remains maintained throughout this extended holiday period,” concluded Achmad.
