Pelindo Prepares Integrated Post for KMP Mutiara Sentosa II Fire Victims

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3 Sub Regional Jawa has activated an integrated post for victims of the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II fire at the Gapura Surya Nusantara passenger terminal in Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.

Sub Regional Head Jawa of PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 3, Purwanto Wahyu Widodo, stated on Monday that all facilities were prepared to ensure passengers receive the best service following the evacuation process at sea.

“Pelindo has prepared an Integrated Post at the Gapura Surya Nusantara Passenger Terminal to support the identification process, as well as to provide services to passengers arriving in Surabaya,” he said.

The company is coordinating with the Port Authority (KSOP), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Jasa Raharja, the Port Health Office, RS PHC Surabaya, and all relevant agencies to ensure the handling is swift, integrated, and humane.

“We are providing free health checks for all passengers. If their condition allows them to continue their journey, we will assist with the onward departure process,” he added.

Should passengers choose to return to their home regions, Pelindo has also prepared free transportation to the nearest bus terminal or train station.

“We are providing rest areas, food, drinks, and toilet facilities, so that victims can recover both physically and psychologically after the incident,” Purwanto explained.

He added that all operational personnel have been deployed to ensure the arrival process of evacuation vessels runs safely and smoothly.

“We have prepared all terminal facilities so they can be used immediately when the ships carrying the victims dock at Tanjung Perak Port. Our priority is to ensure the victims receive fast, safe, and comfortable service while upholding humanitarian principles,” he said.

Head of the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority (KSOP), Agustinus Ma’un, said the incident response was carried out through intensive inter-agency coordination, with the safety of lives as the top priority.

“The Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority, together with Basarnas, the Indonesian Navy, the Water Police, port operators, shipping companies, and all related elements, continues to coordinate to ensure the evacuation, victim handling, and arrival of passenger-carrying vessels proceed safely and in an orderly manner,” he said.
