Pelindo Petikemas Wins Two GSPI ASRI 2026 Awards for Green and Smart Ports
PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas has won two awards in the Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI) ASRI 2026 programme. The awards were given for the Banjarmasin Container Terminal (TPK Banjarmasin) and the Bitung Container Terminal (TPK Bitung). The GSPI ASRI 2026 programme is an initiative to encourage port transformation in Indonesia to be more ASRI (safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful), while implementing environmentally friendly operational governance supported by digital technology. The assessment was conducted throughout 2025 and covered aspects of management, safety and occupational health (K3), environment, energy, and service digitalisation.
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan stated that ports are a vital node in the national food logistics system, connecting production centres, industrial areas, and distribution hubs to consumption areas. He emphasised that good port management is key to ensuring smooth supply, reducing price disparities, and maintaining national food stability. The minister also noted that the function of a port extends beyond just loading and unloading activities.
Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi expressed hope that more ports in Indonesia would adopt the ASRI principles. He suggested that the concept of safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful management should be expanded beyond sea transportation to other transport modes. Corporate Secretary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, Widyaswendra, said the award reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to building container terminals that are more environmentally friendly, safe, and technology-based. He stressed that the commitment goes beyond meeting assessment indicators and must be reflected in daily operational management, from energy efficiency and environmental management to improving occupational safety and utilising digital technology. Widyaswendra added that transforming into a green and smart port requires collaboration between the government, terminal operators, service users, shipping companies, stevedoring workers, and all stakeholders in the port ecosystem.
