Pelindo Petikemas Records Positive Performance Amid Global Turbulence
Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP) has recorded positive performance at a time when the global logistics industry is facing pressures due to rising energy costs, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical tensions. In a statement in Surabaya on Wednesday, the performance of several domestic Container Terminals (TPK) showed a positive trend in the first quarter of 2026, including ten terminals that exceeded targets up to March 2026. Those TPKs are TPK Nilam which reached 118.24 percent, TPK Semarang 117.26 percent, TPK Sorong 109.02 percent, TPK Kendari 107.03 percent, TPK Teluk Lamong 105.1 percent, and TPK Merauke 103.86 percent. Additionally, TPK Surabaya 102.09 percent, TPK Jayapura 101.36 percent, TPK Makassar 100.75 percent, and IPC Terminal Petikemas 100.6 percent. This achievement reflects high loading and unloading activity as well as increasing goods distribution flows in each region, including eastern Indonesia. At TPK Sorong, the container throughput was recorded at 16,131 TEUs, or a 10 percent growth compared to the company’s target up to March 2026 of 14,616 TEUs. This increase was triggered, among others, by the momentum of goods transportation during Eid al-Fitr, as well as additional container flows from changes in the distribution pattern (transhipment) of PT SPIL ships now passing through Sorong Port. TPK Sorong Terminal Head Welta Selfie stated that this growth is inseparable from the terminal’s transformation process. “Sorong Port, which previously operated conventionally, has now developed into a more modern and standardised container terminal,” she said. Meanwhile, at PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) Merauke, container flow increased by around 10 percent following Merauke’s designation as a National Strategic Project (PSN). “A lot of construction materials and heavy equipment are coming in from Java Island,” said the Head of PT SPIL Merauke Branch, Puji Harmoko. In addition, commodities entering TPK Merauke have also changed, with fruits, onions, and plantation products arriving in larger quantities, thus opening new economic potential for the easternmost region of Indonesia.
