Pelindo Pangkalbalam Enhances Fire Emergency Preparedness
PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 2 Pangkalbalam in Bangka Belitung Province is enhancing the preparedness of its Fire and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) teams in handling fires within the port area through emergency response training and simulations.
“Today’s activity is intended to increase worker readiness in preventing and managing fires within the port environment,” said Teuku Kamil Syamsura, General Manager of PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 2 Pangkalbalam, while inspecting the fire emergency response simulation at Pangkalbalam Port on Friday.
He noted that the training and simulation at Pangkalbalam Port represents a synergy between PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 2 Pangkalbalam, the Pangkalpinang City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the Pangkalbalam Police Sector. The goal is to improve the skills of the company’s Fire and HSE teams in managing fire incidents at the port.
“We conduct this training routinely every year to ensure they are more skilled in preventing potential fire hazards, executing evacuation procedures, using portable fire extinguishers, and understanding the necessary steps to take during fire emergencies,” Kamil stated.
He added that the 2026 fire emergency response training and simulation is a more comprehensive effort as part of PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 2 Pangkalbalam’s service to port users.
“God willing, we are ready, alongside the local police, to handle specific fire emergencies in this port,” Kamil said.
He expressed hope that the training would ensure workers, particularly the Fire and HSE teams, are increasingly prepared and responsive to emergency conditions, especially fires within the port environment.
Julisko, the Firefighting Section Head of the Pangkalpinang City BPBD, remarked that the skills and cohesion of the training participants in handling fires at Pangkalbalam Port were already good.
“The skills and cohesion of the Fire and HSE Team of PT Pelindo (Persero) Regional 2 Pangkalbalam are very good, as the company conducts annual training for its employees in fire management,” he said.
