Jakarta – In observance of Eid al-Fitr 1447H/2026M, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo has again launched the Free Homecoming Programme with Pelindo Group for 2026 through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiative. The programme, titled Safe Homecoming Sharing Hope, represents the commitment of state-owned enterprises together with Danantara Indonesia and Pelindo in assisting the public to undertake safe, comfortable, and secure homecoming journeys to their hometowns.

As part of the Pelindo Group, PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), a subholding operating non-containerised terminal facilities, is playing a role in implementing the free homecoming programme in the Sumatra region with approximately 160 homecoming travellers for round-trip journeys from Medan to several destination cities. Through this programme, Pelindo Multi Terminal hopes to help the public experience the joy of celebrating Eid al-Fitr with family in their hometowns with safe and orderly travel.

Registration for the Free Homecoming Programme of State-Owned Enterprises 2026 opened online on 24 February 2026 with various travel routes. For departures from Medan, Pelindo Multi Terminal has provided three main routes using bus transport: Medan–Banda Aceh–Medan with 1 bus, Medan–Pekanbaru–Medan with 2 buses, and Medan–Padang–Medan with 2 buses. The flag-off ceremony for departures was held simultaneously from the Pelindo Building, Jalan Krakatau Ujung, Medan on 16 March 2026, whilst the return journey to Medan was scheduled for 27 March 2026.

Edi Priyanto, Director of Human Resources at Pelindo Multi Terminal, explained that this free homecoming programme for state-owned enterprises targets more than 100,000 homecoming travellers across Indonesia, whilst also supporting government policy to create safe, comfortable, and zero-accident homecoming journeys.

“This programme not only helps the public return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with family, but also aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve travel safety during the homecoming period. We hope that homecoming travellers will arrive at their destinations safely and healthily, and can deliver our warm greetings to families in their hometowns,” said Edi at the flag-off ceremony of the free homecoming programme in Medan on Monday, 16 March.

He added that all vehicles used in this programme have been well prepared to ensure safety and comfort during travel. Furthermore, bus drivers and crew have undergone urine tests to ensure they are in prime condition before driving, and the Medan K3 Centre has equipped the crew with health kits as first-aid equipment during the journey.

“We ensure that vehicles are roadworthy, drivers are in good condition, and travel proceeds in an orderly manner. We also urge passengers to maintain order during the journey so that this year’s homecoming truly becomes a safe and secure journey,” Edi added.

To provide comfort during travel, Pelindo Multi Terminal has not only provided free transportation facilities but also prepared takjil packages for homecoming travellers as provisions for breaking fast during the journey.

In this programme, Pelindo Group not only facilitates the departure of homecoming travellers to their hometowns but also provides return transportation for their journey back to Medan city.

One participant in the free homecoming programme heading to Padang, Muhibban, expressed gratitude for the free homecoming programme. He said the programme made it easier for him to return home and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with family.

“I am very grateful to be able to participate in this free homecoming programme. It is very helpful because transportation costs are quite high now. With this programme, I can return to Padang to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with family,” he said.

As part of its corporate social commitment, Pelindo Multi Terminal hopes the Free Homecoming Programme 2026 can provide tangible benefits to the public, particularly in the Sumatra region. Through this programme, homecoming travellers are expected to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with joy together with family in their hometowns, whilst experiencing safe, secure, and comfortable homecoming journeys with Pelindo.
