Pelindo Maintains Full Operations During Eid Travel Season to Strengthen Services
Jakarta — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, has ensured that all port services will remain fully operational during the 2026 Eid travel season. This measure has been taken to support smooth citizen mobility and logistical distribution, which typically increase significantly before and after Eid al-Fitr.
Pelindo’s Chief Executive Officer, Achmad Muchtasyar, stated that Pelindo has prepared various strategic measures to enhance service quality at ports during this period. Preparations include strengthening passenger terminal operations, improving coordination with relevant stakeholders, and optimising port facilities to serve the surge in passengers and goods.
“Pelindo is committed to ensuring all port services run optimally during the Eid travel period. Our port operations are on full alert for 24 hours to support smooth cargo flow and passenger mobility,” said Achmad on Sunday (15 March 2026).
Pelindo also expressed support for the government’s policy regarding operational restrictions on third-axle and higher freight transport during the mudik and balik (homecoming and return) travel periods from 13-29 March 2026. This policy aims to regulate the flow of public travel to ensure better order, safety, and control.
In line with this policy, Pelindo has prepared various operational measures, including managing traffic and terminal capacity to control container accumulation levels, scheduling vessel berthing, and optimising terminal operational services to ensure cargo handling continues safely and efficiently.
Beyond cargo terminal operational readiness, Pelindo has also ensured readiness of passenger terminal services managed by the company by strengthening human resource preparedness, service systems, and security in port areas. Various passenger support facilities, such as waiting areas, information services, and the arrangement of vessel departure and arrival procedures have been reinforced. As of 15 March 2026, services across all Pelindo passenger terminals were running smoothly, with the number of homebound travellers reaching over 500,000 passengers.
This figure is expected to continue increasing as the peak mudik period approaches, predicted to occur three to two days before Eid, with total passenger movement projected to increase approximately 5 per cent compared to the previous year.
“Through these various efforts, Pelindo hopes that the conduct of the 2026 Eid travel season can run smoothly, safely, and comfortably for people travelling via sea routes, whilst ensuring national logistical distribution remains secure during the extended holiday period,” concluded Achmad.
