Pelindo Jayapura records container throughput of 62,273 TEUs

PT Pelindo Regional 4 Jayapura has recorded positive growth up to August 2026, with container throughput reaching 62,27lar3 TEUs, an 11.2 per cent increase compared to the same period the previous year, which stood at 56,008 TEUs.

General Manager of Pelindo Regional 4 Jayapura, Ramdan Affan Kiai Demak, stated in Jayapura on Sunday that growth was also evident in non-containerised cargo flows. Up to August 2026, volume reached 132,618 tonnes, representing a 101.3 per cent increase compared to the 65,879 tonnes recorded during the same period in 2025.

“This increase is in line with the rising activity of general cargo loading and unloading at the Port of Jayapura,” he said.

According to Ramdan, these figures are documented in Pelindo’s official publication regarding the performance of Regional 4 up to August 2026.

“This growth demonstrates the increasingly vital role of the Port of Jayapura in maintaining connectivity and the smooth distribution of logistics in Papua,” he added.

He explained that the growth in container and cargo flows serves as an indicator that logistics activities in Papua are continuously progressing. He emphasised that the most important aspect is ensuring this growth is accompanied by improved service quality, operational reliability, and safe, sustainable services.

“Therefore, we continue to strengthen Papua’s connectivity so that the Port of Jayapura functions not only as a loading and unloading node but also as part of the supply chain connecting Papua with various regions in Indonesia,” he further stated.

He added that the increase in port activity must be followed by the strengthening of service quality and operational reliability.

“We are constantly striving to maintain services so that logistics distribution can run smoothly and provide benefits to both the community and business actors,” he concluded.
