PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Sunda Kelapa is working to enhance the economic independence of persons with disabilities in the Ancol area, Pademangan District, North Jakarta, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme, ‘Difabel Berdaya Tanpa Batas’.

“This programme is Pelindo’s effort to increase the economic independence of persons with disabilities by providing business capital assistance, business equipment, and entrepreneurship training,” said Heri Kusmiran, Junior Manager of HR, General Affairs, and KBL at PT Pelindo Regional 2 Sunda Kelapa, in Jakarta on Friday.

Heri explained that the ‘Difabel Berdaya Tanpa Batas’ programme represents Pelindo’s commitment to creating equal opportunities for all segments of society to grow, work, and contribute to sustainable economic development. Through this programme, beneficiaries have broader opportunities to develop their businesses, thereby improving their welfare and standard of living independently.

“We hope this assistance can serve as a stimulus for beneficiaries to increase their business capacity while simultaneously strengthening family economies,” he added.

Participants also receive entrepreneurship training to equip them in managing their businesses. Heri expressed hope that the training would improve managerial skills, business management, and broaden entrepreneurial insights, enabling entrepreneurs with disabilities to compete and grow sustainably.

PT Pelindo Regional 2 Sunda Kelapa continues to strive to present programmes that deliver real social impact to the communities surrounding the company’s operational areas. He stated that this aligns with the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and a commitment to supporting inclusive development and strengthening community empowerment.

“Furthermore, we aim to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups through collaboration with the government and various other parties,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Pademangan District, Arif Wibowo, expressed his appreciation to PT Pelindo Regional 2 Sunda Kelapa for its concern in supporting the empowerment of persons with disabilities through a programme that provides tangible benefits to the community.

“Collaboration between the government and the business world is a vital factor in creating an inclusive society and opening equal opportunities for persons with disabilities to develop and become independent,” he said.
