Pelindo Confirms Makassar Port Services Are Ready Ahead of Mudik
Makassar — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo continues to ensure readiness of port operational services ahead of the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah mudik period. This was demonstrated through a field visit by Pelindo’s Finance Director Bachtiar Soeria Atmadja to the Makassar Port Passenger Terminal and New Makassar 1 Container Terminal (TPK New Makassar 1) in Makassar on Thursday. The field visit aimed to directly review terminal facilities readiness, operational services, and safety aspects in the port area to ensure all activities run optimally during the expected increase in population movement ahead of Eid. The Finance Director said the visit is part of the company’s commitment to ensure all service lines at the port operate optimally, safely, and reliably for the public and service users. ‘This visit is conducted to ensure operational readiness across all port service lines, from terminal facilities, personnel readiness, to the implementation of safety at work,’ he said. Pelindo also wants to ensure that all services at Makassar Port operate optimally so that people undertaking mudik journey can experience safe, comfortable, and smooth service, he said. According to him, Makassar Port plays a strategic role as one of the main gateways for sea transport connectivity in the East Indonesia Region (KTI). Therefore, operational readiness at the port is very important, especially during periods with high passenger mobility such as the Lebaran mudik season. In the visit, Bachtiar also reviewed several service facilities at the Makassar Port Passenger Terminal, ranging from the arrivals and departures areas for passengers, waiting room facilities, passenger service flows, to security and safety systems in the terminal area. In addition, the review was conducted at New Makassar 1 Container Terminal (TPK New Makassar 1) to ensure smooth container handling activities and the readiness of terminal facilities to support the national logistics flow. Division Head of Operations Pelindo Regional 4, Yusida M Palesang, said Pelindo Regional 4 has carried out various preparations to ensure smooth services during the Lebaran mudik period. ‘We have taken a number of anticipatory steps to ensure service readiness at Makassar Port, both in terms of operations, terminal facilities, and safety aspects,’ he explained.
