Pelindo Conducts Emission Tests to Support Green Logistics in Surabaya
PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (PTP), in collaboration with Pelindo Regional 3, has implemented an exhaust emission testing programme for container transport vehicles operating at Teluk Lamong Terminal (TTL) and Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS) to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The activity involved the Surabaya City Transportation Agency in carrying out inspections and verification of vehicle emission conditions as part of efforts to control emissions from freight transport vehicles operating in the terminal area and to support the implementation of environmentally sound operational standards.
“Through this activity, we are not only measuring vehicle emission conditions, but also encouraging service users and transport partners to improve compliance with environmental aspects in operational activities,” said PTP Corporate Secretary Widyaswendra in Surabaya on Friday.
The activity was carried out in two locations, namely on 13 August 2026 at Teluk Lamong Terminal and 18 August 2026 at Surabaya Container Terminal, with a target of inspecting 100 container trucks.
The testing was conducted to obtain an overview of vehicle exhaust emission conditions based on the required parameters, while also identifying vehicles that require maintenance or repairs to their engine systems and emission control systems.
He explained that, in addition to the emission measurement aspect, this activity also serves as a means of technical education for transport companies and drivers regarding the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly to maintain engine performance, combustion efficiency, and exhaust gas quality.
According to him, container trucks are an important component in the logistics chain connecting the terminal with the hinterland area.
The relatively high operational intensity of the vehicles means that exhaust emission aspects need to be part of the attention in sustainable logistics transport management.
“The test result data is expected to serve as initial information for vehicle owners to carry out evaluation and maintenance if emission parameters are found that do not meet the requirements,” said Widyaswendra.
Ahmad Basuni, one of the container truck drivers who took part in the testing, welcomed the emission test positively because the testing process was simple and did not disrupt vehicle operational activities.
“The emission test process is easy and does not take long. I think activities like this are good and if possible should be carried out regularly, because as drivers we also get to know the emission condition of the vehicles we drive,” said Ahmad.
