Pelindo and Saudi Arabia Explore Port and Logistics Cooperation

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are exploring potential cooperation in port infrastructure investment, terminal management, service digitalisation, human resource development, and direct shipping connectivity between the two countries. The collaborative opportunities were discussed during a visit by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and his delegation to the Pelindo Maritime Museum at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. The meeting served as a momentum to strengthen Indonesia-Saudi Arabia relations while exploring strategic partnerships in the port and logistics sectors. Pelindo’s President Director, Achmad Muchtasyar, welcomed the potential cooperation, stating that the relationship between the two nations has a strong foundation to be developed into a strategic maritime partnership. Muchtasyar said Pelindo is ready to become a strategic partner in supporting trade connectivity between the two countries through the development of modern, integrated, and competitive port services. He added that Pelindo continues to undergo transformation through operational integration, service digitalisation, and the development of international-standard infrastructure. These measures aim to improve national logistics efficiency while strengthening the global competitiveness of Indonesian ports. The company is also open to investment opportunities in several strategic ports it manages. Minister Al-Jasser noted that the visit provided an opportunity for the Saudi delegation to observe firsthand the management of one of Indonesia’s main ports and to learn about the development of the country’s maritime industry. He highlighted that both Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are G20 members with strategic positions in the maritime and logistics sectors, and both actively participate in international forums such as the International Maritime Organization, providing ample scope for collaboration. The Saudi delegation also included representatives from Red Sea Gateway Terminal to further explore potential cooperation with Pelindo. During the visit, the delegation toured the Planning and Control room at Tanjung Priok Port to review real-time operational service planning, control, and ship berthing schedule optimisation.
