Pekanbaru to Build IDR 3 Billion Roundabout Without Using Regional Budget

INFO NASIONAL - The Mayor of Pekanbaru, Agung Nugroho, continues to improve and develop infrastructure in the capital city of Riau province. Interestingly, many of these developments are carried out in collaboration with the private sector, without using the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

One of the upcoming projects is the construction of a roundabout in front of the Pekanbaru Mall (MP) on Jalan Jendral Sudirman. Agung explained that the construction of the MP Roundabout involves the private sector and does not use the APBD.

Later, the MP Roundabout will also become one of the icons of the city of Pekanbaru. “The MP Roundabout is being assisted by Pekanbaru Mall. The budget is quite expensive, almost IDR 3 billion,” said Agung, Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

According to him, the area is being redesigned because the current vehicle turning area will be rebuilt and beautified. The roundabout also has a design with a Malay concept and culture.

It is also equipped with a fountain and photo spots. “We asked MP to install a large videotron. We want to create something similar to the HI Roundabout in Jakarta,” he said. (*)
